A Weekend in Barcelona

‘Thank God it’s Friday! What a week it’s been! How exciting! It’s time for a well-deserved weekend excursion with friends. I love Barcelona!’ Siobhan packs her suitcase, reflecting on the past week. Before taking a trip, she has a habit of mentally revisiting her achievements, challenges and lessons learned at work and in her private life.

The last few days have abounded in various closures and decisions. Siobhan has been working with German-speaking customers for several months, supporting them in implementing and developing cloud solutions as well as automating supply chain processes. She enjoys the international environment where she works, the day-to-day contact with German, and, last but not least, knowing that she is a part of major technological changes in business. She keeps acquiring new skills, but she also has an impact on reality: her proposals are heard and implemented. Sometimes she feels like screaming:
“I am a winner!”

The past week has given her quite a few such experiences. On Monday, her largest customer closed the implementation of a new cloud application. On Tuesday, important negotiations with a new business partner were successfully concluded. On Wednesday and Thursday, she delivered a series of in-house training sessions on the latest innovations available for the German market.

‘Meow!’, Zuta emerged from her cosy kingdom.

‘Meow, Zuta. Can you survive two days without your mistress and master? You will survive. Uncle Seamus will be bringing you victuals. Behave yourself’, Siobhan fondles her favourite’s silky fur.  She laughs out loud. She is looking forward to a dream Argentine tango workshop in the perfect company of her Erasmus student team. What a weekend it’s going to be! She’ll brush up her Spanish, see familiar faces, and enjoy a wonderful night out dancing in Barcelona .

‘Shall we take the laptop with us?’ Sean asks. He packs his camera and UAV.

Siobhan hesitates for a moment.

‘No. It’s time to unwind completely this weekend. We are going to tango. We are not coding anything, my dear programmer!’
